Student Shop

The Physics Student Shop is a fully equipped machine shop used for the manufacturing of research equipment.

Eligibility
Only KU Physics or Chemistry students currently working for an active research group are eligible to use the Student Shop once they have completed the shop's safety course.

Hours
The Student Shop is open from 8:00am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Students can obtain a key code allowing them access to the shop.

Training
Physics students must attend a safety class before permission is granted to operate any machinery in the Student Shop. The class is free and non-credit.

Students are shown how to operate all major pieces of equipment including lathe, milling machines, band saws, drill presses, and measurement tools.
